What is a cellar? Most
of us think a cellar is like a basement.
Actually, here is the definition according to The Free Dictionary.com: “(1)
A room or enclosed space used for storage, usually beneath the
ground or under a building. (2) A
basement. (3) An underground shelter, as from
storms. (4) A wine cellar.” Let’s clarify further by reviewing the
definition of wine cellar… “a storage space where wines are stored, such as a dark cool cellar.” Based upon this definition, any storage space
is a wine cellar as long as wines are stored there. However, there are certain
conditions that are necessary for wine … All of us who love wine and prefer to keep an adequate supply on hand at home or business should be familiar with the conditions for an Ideal Wine Cellar. Now, we may understand
why the first wine cellars were caves … because the cave had the necessary
conditions for wine. That is, dark, cool, humid and little chance of vibration.
